Yeah i recently got the 40 inch G7 5k2k only for office work running of M1 Air. The extra screen and being able to open 4 excel sheets is amazing. I can do my work so much faster without having to switch between windows. PPI is the thing you need for office work. Other option is the Dell Ultrasharp but those are insanely expensive as well as LG 5k2k monitors.

Based on what i have heard, the alienware is a better option with better warranty. If you arr getting it solely for productivity, you wont feel too much of a upgrade going from dual 24" to a single 34" in terms of screen real estate. Plus you also need a high resolution to get the highest PPI possible for best text clarity. The 5k2k panels on the market are the go to for producivity such as the Dell Ultrasharp, LG 5k2k, Samsung G75F. I got the 40" G75F 5k2k recently for my office and it is amazing to open 4 excel sheets side by side. The extra screen is a big boost for my productivity.

If you are fine with 40 inches, there is the new Samsung G7 5k2k panel which is amazing for productivity. Should be good for gaming but i use it for work specifically in my office.

I got it last week too. The G75F is at a crazy price for 5k2k which seemed to be fake at first. The other 5k2k are $1500+. I upgraded from a 27" 1080p monitor so it was a night and day difference. I used betterdisplay at first but ended up running at native 5k2k. The text clarity wasn't great when scaled to 3840×1620. Let me know how your experience has been.

Check out the G75K 40" 5k2k. It is the cheapest 5k2k you can get for $700. If you need more screen, then the G9 is the only option.

It's truly an underrated monitor. Im surprised why Samsung has priced it so low compared to other 5k2k panels like the Dell Ultrasharp. Im recommeding this monitor to anyone looking to get one for productivity as it ticks pretty much all boxes for office use. Its not really for gaming as its not OLED so the blacks aren't that great.

The Dell or LG if you can afford. The G75F for a more cheaper option but still ticks most boxes without breaking your wallet. Im using mine on a M1 Air and has been great. Color accuracy isn't the best due to being VA but at $700, a 5k2k is a pretty good deal

I bought it last month mainly for work and it has been amazing with my M1 Air. There are a couple of other posts on this sub about the G75F so check those out. I was in the same boat as you. I wanted a decent priced 5k2k work monitor as I was using a 27" 1080p one before. The extra screen real estate has been amazing to my productivity. The text is super clear. The color accuracy isn't the best so dont expect it to be good for gaming though it still can be used for it. I was almost about to buy a 1440p 34" monitor until I saw this one. I still feel its too expensive as my previous monitors have been cheap ones but its worth it.

I got the G75F 5k2k 40" VA only for productivity. An OLED is ideal for gaming with the perfect blacks but the text clarity is not good enough for productivity. Ideally, a 5k2k monitor is best for WFH as it gives you the highest PPI for most clarity so that you can open multiple windows. Try to look for a work monitor with gaming features on it. There is also the Dell Ultrasharp and the LG 5k2k depending on your budget.

Im using the G75F 40" 5k2k with my M1 Air and it has been great. I dont do any gaming. I wanted a decent priced ultrawide with 5k2k to give highest PPI. To see the text easily, get a 5k2k. You can also check the Dell Ultrasharp or G9 49" or 57". Those are more expensive but will let you do work and game.

I just got the 40” Samsung G75F yesterday and it’s really nice. I’m about 80-90% productivity (also coding) and 10-20% gaming. My previous display was a 34” at 3440x1440 and the Samsung blows it out of the water in clarity and sharpness. Some folks I talked to here weren’t fans of the color and viewing angles, but I used it for a few hours yesterday for gaming and didn’t notice any issues. I didn’t adjust any color, brightness, or contrast settings out of the box, either. I’ll know more about its effectiveness for work starting tomorrow, but my short tests yesterday were positive.

I have this monitor, coming from a QD-OLED G80SD. This is going to be a polarizing product for folks, and that’s fine. It’s a very niche use-case monitor. 40 inch 5k2k is absolutely the sweet spot for productivity. I’ve owned 4k32, 1440p 34 inch and 49 inch 1440p and by far this one feels the best. The right mix of more horizontal and vertical space. I have a thunderbolt dock so the appeal of the Dell and LG 5k2k models is less than for others probably, and their lackluster game performance is a deal breaker. I may only get a few hours a week to game, but I want to enjoy those hours, and I feel like I get that here.  Yes it’s a VA panel but it’s a very good one. I am not overly sensitive to smearing so I don’t really see it, but maybe others will. Overall picture quality is very good. Is it objectively as good as OLED? No, but it’s much better than any IPS screen by a long shot with contrast and blacks. Colors to my eyes are good with a few tweaks. I do photo editing so I have a Spyder to calibrate with as well. HDR performance is decent (using RTX HDR I got better results than windows auto HDR). Text definitely feels better to read than on the G80SD despite the same pixel density.  At this price, I think this is good value. I don’t feel like I need to babysit the monitor anymore which is really quite nice when working after having done it for the past year on the OLED.  I’m quite happy with it. I’m probably 80/20 productivity and gaming, sometimes 90/10 or 100/0. My two cents anyway.

I’ve shared my feedback on other posts but will reiterate here given there aren’t many reviews or real world experience users out there to share. For context, I’ve spent the last couple of years on OLED, first the Alienware 3423dw, then the MSI mpg321urx and a Samsung G80sd. I’ve also tried (and returned) the MSI and Samsung 49 inch super ultra wides. I “downgraded” to the g75f 40 and it’s been a pleasant surprise for me. I like it way more than I thought I would and giving up perfect blacks was a lot easier to do. Part of that may be because I don’t play a lot of really dark games, but I think part of it is this monitor has really good contrast. Colors seem great and calibrating with my Calbrite went well. My use case is 80% productivity and 20% gaming, maybe 90/10 or 100/0 on really busy weeks. I can’t understate how much easier it is on my eyes after a 10 or 12 hour day of spreadsheets and legal memos. Not having to set low brightness to avoid burn in helps with that I’m sure. Not having to hide taskbars, keep a bland black background are pluses for general usability/ enjoyment. The 5k2k and 40 inch form factor feels best for productivity, and while the Dell or LG IPS monitors have more productivity features, most of their convenience is covered by my work issued thunderbolt dock. Viewing angles aren’t nearly as good comparing to OLED but in practical use I’ve not had any issues. On occasion at the farthest edge of the screen I can see slight brightness / gamma shift. But otherwise, I sit in front of my monitor and haven’t found it problematic. Overall, seems to strike the right balance of productivity, gaming, and peace of mind for my admittedly very fringe use case/needs. At $676 all in with Samsung EPP through my work, I feel like I get good value out of it. Not worth it at retail or really anything above $850 in my opinion. I know the “OLED or die” crowd will pan it as poor value and for the gaming enthusiasts/ priority buyer, I’m sure it is bad value. But if you fall in a similar use case as me, I’d recommend giving it a shot if you get it on sale, you might be surprised. Worst thing that can happen is you don’t like it and return it.

Just know that if you're trying to do a split screen with dual inputs, expect one side to go off often. Its a known problem with the odyssey series

I would look at the Samsung 40 g75. It’s not as feature rich. But it’s half the price. Or the innocn. But if you’re planning on having the monitor for a long time. It’s worth the money and a good investment. I have the Samsung and I love the size compared to my previous 34 ultrawide

I have it, overall it's been pretty good use it mainly for productivity things but i've put a good 10 hrs of gaming on it the last 3 days. Some standouts so far for me: - The ABL is VERY aggressive on a full screen white background anything, it first darkens the overall screen considerably then tints essentially any white background a blueish grey or if you try and combat that it gets a yellowish tint that I absolutely hate. Which sucks, because I LIKE my retinas burning away. And would very much like white with no tints or automatic brightness reduction. - The monitors tricky to get the colors right, for a samsung va not having a qd coating to help with the colors is weird. As someone who LOVES vivid color i've had to turn color in monitor settings up all the way to 50 and again increase it via amd adrenaline software and it's still not where i'd want it to be. Again I really do think this is the fault of the extremely aggressive ABL, I think the algo they have for it's just kinda trash REALLY hoping they update it via firmware because its the one thing making me consider returning it. - The HDR is great in games tho, highlights pop, colors are more vibrant and the ABL just gives up and stops hamstringing the monitor. Seriously I know I keep going on about the ABL but man, it's ass. I've worked with oleds that have had less aggressive abl algos. No reason AT ALL for this monitor to be this aggressive. - Viewing angles have been fine but thats because I use it as a monitor and NOT a tv. I sit infront of it and don't try to play it from a bed or couch. - Motions been great, have not noticed ANY smearing at all with freesync pro on. Really surprised by this. If you wanna know anything else just ask.

Unfortunately you cannot disable the ABL. I haven't tried it but I just went ahead and activated it now for you and their were only two options, side by side and fullscreen with a floater in the lower right hand corner.

I have it and love it! Everything is great except viewing angles of course as it is a VA but they are fine for me. You have to disable local dimming tho as it causes an annoying high pitch noise. Completely silent with local dimming off and it doesnt do anything to the picture anyways because it only has 8 zones.
