UPPAbaby - Vista V2 Stroller

vista is amazing. cadillac of strollers. i have one, most of my friend circle does you can get the infant car seat and pop it right in the stroller too with no attachments. it is big though, if i was in a nyc city apt i probably wouldn’t get it but with a car, not being in a 5 floor walk up, more suburb life it’s fantastic. i’ve heard good things about the doona my only personal feedback is that it’s very low to the ground as a stroller with a low handle bar (my husband is very tall so didn’t work for us!)

We have a Cosco Scenera seat mainly for getting to and from airports, occasionally to get around the city. Our strollers are an Uppababy Vista, which can accommodate the car seat in the basket, and the Mountain Buggy Nano which has a universal infant car seat attachment system and a supposedly popular toddler carseat attachment hack. All that being said, we almost never go anywhere that requires that we lug the car seat with us at the destination. It’s too much equipment. These clever travel ideas don’t account for all the toddler stuff we have to carry around anyway, so getting either stroller perfectly packed so that they can go into a car trunk without raining out a bag’s worth of stale cracker crumbs only happens if we’re flying. What we actually do is 1) check if the destination has coat check or stroller parking to leave the car seat there, 2) figure out how to get there via public transportation with the travel stroller and/or a toddler carrier (apparently I’m often the only person that’s ever worn a 2yo because people were constantly surprised to see my giant monster of a child looming over them), or we put off going until kid is out of the car seat and ready for a booster/harness. Our wishlist of city destinations isn’t that long, just take the subway.

We arent sure about #2 and it will probably be a couple years if it happens, so went with the Cruz with bassinet and Aria carseat. We have a car so wont be using Uber much. Plan to get the yoyo for subway travel. Uppababy has a service center relatively close by in Brooklyn which is super helpful if anything goes wrong. There were also some recalls on Nuna items recently, so between those factors and recs from friends, we went with the Uppababy system. Very happy so far. Ultimately your stroller choice is very lifestyle dependent.

This is exactly what I did too! Used Uppababy Vista and then a new Aria car seat. The aria car seat did go up $150 because of the tariffs but was still more reasonable than others, and compatible with the UB Vista.

This is fantastic advice. We were set on a particular chicco travel system and were going to buy it new. Since buy buy baby closed I had trouble finding one in person, but lower end ones were all over target and those types of box stores, baby stores and nordstroms had the uppababys and Nunas, I finally found out kohls about 45 minutes from me had the Chicco and went to check it out. Compared to the uppababy I went with the materials felt cheap but more importantly the floor model was worse for wear, and it was easy to see why from the way the connections worked. It just didn’t feel built to last for my purposes and I know I would have been really annoyed if I hadn’t gone to see it in person first and found out later. Go to a store and check them out in person so you can feel good about this one, it’s an important purchase and you’re going to spend a lot of time using it. Imo anything with wheels needs a test drive.

For the comment on car seat and stroller combos I actually didn't use mine as a combo but could have gotten an attachment (I returned it when we didn't use it). I had: \-Chicco Keyfit 30 (love and would recommend; it's compatible with an adapter to most strollers that have that ability) \-Chicco car seat caddy (bought used, popped the car seat in when going to appointment or quick trips in somewhere for the first couple months, was super light so great for c section or complication recover and didn't take much space until we sold it again) \-Uppababy Vista (I love but has some other options now + big cons; cons are heavy, expensive, need the extra adapter; plusses were bassinet option, addapter option, seat that reverses, and grear wheels; I'd maybe buy again and have no regrets, but their are lighter options at similar or lower price points now)

Test drives. I was set on an uppababy vista due to research then I tried the Cybex gazelle in a store and it was all over from there. Comparing the two made it no comparison.

Never had to fold the stroller except when the subway shuts down and turns into like coach buses but I avoid those since there are also no car seats. I have a giant heavy uppababy vista that I put two kids in and load up the basket. Our old nanny used the same stroller. Only issues have been broken elevators and sometimes having to go very roundabout to get to the right platform. (I had to leave DTX and go to a different part of the station to transfer from orange to red when an elevator was broke but I explained to the T worker at the fare gate so they tapped me through without making me pay extra).

I got an uppababy vista secondhand, and it’s incredible. So sturdy, and the handling is like driving a high end sports car. Makes a Graco stroller feel like driving a busted 92 Honda civic. I also like that the Vista is still compatible with a lot of accessories. Mine was made in 2019 and I could still buy new accessories to fit it. We got the bassinet attachment ($45 on marketplace) and it’s so useful. I would never buy a new one though, it’s a nice stroller but not $900+ nice. Ours was a gift, purchased at a consignment store. There are a TON of them secondhand, look around on marketplace and save yourself some money!
