Always a difficult one. I can only judge what I have experienced. You can compare features and tech specs, but that's not necessarily making it sound better. The AX5125H had some good reviews from what hifi and ratings (based on the price). It does Dolby Atmos, but with only upfiring speakers in the bar, don't expect over head effects, just perhaps the sound in front of you to sound slightly taller. I'm happy with mine for movies and TV. Sometimes it's not great for music, but apparently that's pretty common on sound bars, especially budget ones. I found that placing the surround speakers to the side and just in front of me gave a much better experience than trying to put them behind, as that left them too close.

I recently tried 3 soundbars, including that Hisense. The sound is decent but the thing that made me return it was that scenes that are supposed to get much louder were kinda level with the prior scene. Almost like night mode on a lot of soundbars. And the bass wasn't very good. Ended up getting the Q990D and am very happy with it.

maybe they've changed but i had the older cheap hisense 5.1.2 soundbar and it had noticeable static in the rears. i returned it for another one and exact same issue. from some comments online every single one had this, a design flaw. yet on user reviews they were highly rated. really have no idea i'm hardly an audiophile, the farthest from it. but i guess noone noticed that static. unbelievable. i also noticed, again not audiohpile so i cant say why, but music just didn't sound good on the hisense, beyond that static flaw. something just wrong. i've read some comments echoing that too. that hisense isn't good for music. so overall i think stick to the brands that know audio which for me are just Samsung, vizio (owned several vizio), and jbl. and i'm quite sure sonos lol, sony etc. maybe the new hisense are better but i dont trust them. they're also suspiciously cheap, like their 5.1.4 model goes for 399. now thats not fair by me because i love cheap chinese tv's like hisense and tcl that have served me well and give me the specs of a sony or Samsung that costs twice as much. but yeah for me i dont trust hisense soundbars after my experience. i'd at least make sure theres a way to return it if you dont like it.

No the AX5125H is a 5.1.2 setup... the 5.1.4 should be called something like ax5140q. But don't get it if it's like more than 50 USD more.

Maaaate, I have just gone through this, very similarly. Alright, it's not a G5! But it's an S95c. If you want a cheap soundbar situation you muuust go for this hisense system I just bought for £199 at Argos. I did loads of research and was so tempted to go for the top o' the range stuff but I am wholly impressed with this sweet little set up. It's called the hisense AX5125H. Do et Edit: I was utilising ai to help me decide, and was searching a bunch myself. I am really convinced this is the best you can do with £199 - in terms of improving sound for a new tv set up. I'm so happy with it. It's a 3.1.2 system, therefore, with active atmos (not simulated/ virtual), two rear speakers, a sub, and a soundbar. It's bloody brilliant.

Hisense AX5125H can be found as cheap as $199 and IMO is probably one of the better sounding bars at that price range. $249 is the usual sale price.

I'd say get a corner tv mount and get rid of the stand. Get a Hisense AX5125H soundbar system...it has Dobly Atmos included. It's an excellent midrange choice imo. Purchase a soundbar tv mount to connect soundbar underneath the tv. The rear speakers are completely wireless. So you can easily place them behind the sofa/sectional. Get speaker stands as well for rear speakers. Sub is wireless as well.

We purchased a 75” Hisense U8 in later 2024 and it’s surprised the hell out of me. It was an NYT Wirecutter top pick for 2024. PQ is impressive and it has an impressive dynamic range— really dark shadows to eye-searing brights. We paired it with the Hisense Dolby Atmos 5.1 soundbar (includes subwoofer and two rear speakers) and that system has also astonished me with how good it is. Previously we had a structured wire 7.1 Yamaha speaker system run by a Sony receiver and I was worried that a mere “soundbar” would not satisfy.
