Moondrop - Chu II DSP

From $200 to $1000 there’s practically no gain its like 800 extra for like 3% gain but from $20 chu2 to $200 iems omg the sound is so amazing all those extra drivers help so much it’s like your rediscover musice once you step into $100+ iems it’s impossible to listen to budget sets

Yes, I’ve recently got into iems about 2 months ago. I’ve been a AirPod/gaming headset user for many many years. When I came across iems, I purchased 1 from Ali express and I instantly fell in love with it. 2 things I mainly love is, how cheap and better they are compared to AirPods, I picked up moondrop Chu 2 for $10 and was immediately impressed with its sound quality. Right now I’m using Vzonis VD-01 but looking to upgrade to a more base iem. Another thing with iem, you can customise the cable. (With me I’m very picky about everything) and I’ve paired my iems with Xinhs 8core silver cables and it’s been the best. No cable tangles, nothing One problem is, once you get a iem, you will feel the urge to get more aha

They’re neutral-ish, only problem I had with them is that the treble can get a little tiring, and the build quality isn’t great, sold them and got the chu 2 instead and Im happier with them, pretty decent cable too

The chu 2 is pretty generic in terms of sound but they’re super safe in that regard

I’ve had mine since January and I absolutely love them. They are great for every day use however they do lack some bass. Other than that, they are great.

Not sure what do you mean by punchy feeling but the lack of bass isnt a deal breaker to be fair. They sound is very clear and far superior than all the other over the ear headphones that i've used. Music sounds clear and for gaming they are a very good option as well. I play mostly FPS and hearing enemy footsteps have never been easier with these.

I dont want to force your buying decision : Though I had wanger S.G , kefine klean , chu 2 and kiwi ears cadenza …. Chu 2 and kiwi ear cadenza are great … why you ask that metallic shell iems are not placed at the top … because they absorb moushire and can maybe end of clogging one of the sides in long run ( if you dont of take a good care of iem ) but kiwi ears cadenza are absolutely steal at 35 bucks

The biggest difference between my Shure/Klipsch IEMs and Moondrop/7hz (I own Chu2 and SSR and demoed Aria, Starfield and 7hz Eternal) is how bright the modern ones are. Shure (along with Westone) has a reputation for dark signatures and many people don't like them, however in their defense, the filters can be replaced (Knowles BA filters affect the sound) and they respond to EQ extremely well. Klipsch X7i is like a more "fun" Etymotic ER4 to me, it recesses the treble just about right to make it non-fatiguing while keeping the detail and relative neutrality, and does similarly with bass. Aria and Starfield sounded extremely similar (in being V-leaning) but Aria had a wider soundstage. They're basically all-rounders in my opinion, though Aria's soundstage was really outstanding, out of everything I heard it's only second to XBA-A3/Z5 (but these are hard to beat). Treble makes them sound more lively than old BA sets. 7Hz Eternal actually reminded me of Klipsch because it also seems to try and balance between neutrality and the more popular V-shape. SSR tries to achieve "true" diffuse field signature and can get fatiguing but ends up sounding very detailed, and it's impressively "fast" for a single DD. Overall they have different strengths (Shure has insane isolation and build quality and I love how drums sound on them thank to their "speed" and impact, Klipsch is a great all-rounder and smallest of them all, Moondrop SSR has amazing technicalities for how cheap it is) and I can't pick a favorite, though I mostly use Klipsch right now.

I haven't heard the others but the CHU 2 was awesome.

Alright so everybody here has an opinion, most of them based on "trust me bro". There is a bunch of ~20usd iems, all of them having very similar tuning (tuning is ALL that matters in the sound of earphones/headphones). A lot of them, because they are cheap, come with bad cables that break over time (cables are usually the nost fragile thing on this stuff). Thus I would recommend the Truthear Gate, it comes with a cable that is far better than even cables that vome with iems costing 5x the price. Under 100usd, I would recommend the the Truthear Pure. It is tuned to be what we call neutral now (jm1 and -1db/Oct. Tilt), leaning a bit warm. KZ is... questionable. Some praise it for its price to performance, others hate it. What we are certain about is that they do not sound *objecitevly* correct, not even close to it sometimes. On top of that, they got questionable QC... and marketing practices (paying reviewers, silent revisions for the worse...) 7hz Salnotes Zero:2 - is a good option with a solid tuning, but many find it uncomfortable. Edit: The moondrop chu2 is also a solid option, but I would still go for the Gate.
