Hisense - Laser TV PX3-PRO

The Hisense PX3-PRO is king right now. I'd get it if I could find a way to sell my LSP7T or LSP9T. Awol's reputation is... touchy; others here could elaborate better than I. LG... I've never heard anything bad about their line, but I've never heard anything stellar either.

PX3-PRO is the top dog right now at that budget. $3K would be a good price. Black Friday/CM is a month away though, I'd wait at this point. // Meanwhile, you're going to need to elevate the UST projector though. Sitting on that hearth will have part of the image hitting that fireplace...which I hope you never plan to use if you're going to have a UST and screen there. (I wouldn't chance it, ever). Also, the width of that space where the image would go... I feel like an 85" TV makes more sense there? It would be brighter than a UST for one, and it would do a good job of filling most of that space, for two.

PX3-Pro. It won the most recent UST Projector showdown put on by ProjectorScreen.com. It's roughly $3300ish.

HDMI 2.1, rated for Xbox, etc. I'd get it, but I don't need a third UST, hence me trying to sell my LSP7T.

Just got my PX3 as well. Quick things: - out the box it had smooth motion / motion interpolation enabled, which may be the “clinical” thing you are experiencing. Turn that crap off :) - play with the focus some. It’s pretty easy to have it ever so slightly out of focus and it’s hard to tell. - Try one of the dark picture modes. Otherwise, no RBE effect here, but that really sounds like it’s a person to person thing.

Depends on your use case, the PX3-Pro still seems to be the best mixed use UST. Nexigo Aurora Pro mkii is best for dark rooms. If you don't need UST then you have more options (Valerian Max, Dangbei S7 ultra)

I had to add some shims under the base of my floor rising screen to fix the tilt. Then everything else was easier. One way or another I think you need to fix that first. I also have a PX3-Pro and Im loving it. You'll get there.

I am loving my PX3-Pro. I haven't really turned on my Bravia 9 since getting it. The picture aint that far off and surprisingly way better than i thought it would be.

Ive got a PX3-Pro with a 120" floor rising screen. Also a 85" Sony Bravia 9 in this room. I like having both and use them pretty equally. PX3 Pro rips by the way. Image quality is nearly as good as the Bravia 9.

I'll put the likes of hisense l9q, px3 pro and nexigo ap mk2 ahead of it.

For anyone who wants to buy AWOL UST in 2025, that’s the worst. You simply get better with PX3-Pro if you want to 3D.

Do not buy the PX3 pro for 3d. It's great but not for 3d. Trust me.

A 132 inch Nothing Projector ALR/CLR screen combined with a good UST projector would be another option. ALR screens with UST's reject a ton of environmental light and focus the light back towards the viewers, and with an UST the projector would be right next to the screen so nobody would be walking through the projected image. Your Formovie Theater Premium, your PX3-Pro, etc. Long throw is great for dedicated theater rooms but in more mixed use spaces you come up against the fact that any light in the room severely degrades the experience and you need to paint the room black to compensate for spill light (even though the Slate is ALR it's kind of ALR light and not remotey as effective at light rejection as UST, because UST shines the light from a very specific point below the screen). Just thought I'd float the idea to consider at least. Oh, and you can get 150 inch ALR screens for UST's but they're super expensive ($5k, which I consider expensive for a screen personally; perhaps not for a $40k budget guy) and they all have a seam, the largest seamless one I know is that 132. This would also lower your purchasing cost by a noticeable amount. I mean... a factor of four. Image-quality wise, modern UST's can compete with just about any long throw and beat some. Installation is both easier and harder (figuring out where to put the center speaker and such) but they do make cabinets specifically for nice looking installs with motorized shelves for the projector; internet image search: https://duckduckgo.com/?&q=ust+projector+cabinets&iax=images&ia=images - though they may be made for either 100 or 120 inches specifically. Salamander makes variants with the projector sunk into the cabinet itself, like https://www.salamanderdesigns.com/formovie-theater/ But sure, a QL3000 and a Slate screen would be pretty freaking spectacular I'm sure. I don't think the QB1000 makes sense. It's too expensive. At those prices you could be looking at JVC's LCoS (D-ILA) models and get considerably better picture quality than 3LCD, too. The LS12000 is more sensible and very comparable to the QB1000. All just one guy's opinions naturally.

AWOL 3500 is bright but has atrocious black level. Avoid imo. Hisense great. LG is old shit, it's not worth the money, I believe its RBE is reportedly also bad. Formovie Theater Premium, top notch, like the PX3 Pro. Another option not listed: Nexigo Aurora Pro, has the best black level vs these and is great for dark room viewing, should be gettable for about 2 grand, not sure of exact price now. But, Aurora Pro Mk2 is in pre-order for $2299 if you want to roll the dice, they added features that on paper should make it superb. On paper. Sight unseen. Thus, "roll the dice". Whichever one you get *you need a proper ALR screen* and those are maybe a thousand bucks for a 120 inch, and I think Nothing Projector has a 132 inch for under 2 grand. A motorized floor rising from Spectra Vision, Vividstorm or similar is in the $2 grand ballpark for a 120.

Actually, it was easily beaten by both the PX3 Pro and the Nexigo Aurora Pro MKII in the comparo The Hook Up did.
