The trusty ninebot max. Good size including wheels, one of the safest and good range. Power brick is built into the deck so you only need to carry a small cable in your bag if you want to charge at work

I have a max G30P it’s amazing. Easy do 10 miles in sport. It’ll do 16mi with my 220lb but on it in sport on one charge. I also love that it’s very easy to charge with the cable, I bought a second cable to carry with in case I need to charge on the go. Now I see they came down in price I may grab another.

Yes the g30lp is smaller by a bit and a smaller battery. Range on the g30lp should still be good for college. If u can swing the g30p it’s really a solid choice. Size of rider matters as well I had to get that model I am 6’2” the little ones don’t work for me. Oh also the charging is a little different I believe the g30lp uses a brick charger while the g30p can use either a brick charger or the built in charger via cable. It’s the one I prefer. I have 6k miles on this scooter and only have had to do maintenance, replace a tire a fender and a throttle. It’s been very good, rides well even in weather. Hope this helped good luck with ur purchase and congrats on the college acceptance.

Yes both height and weight play into it and the smaller ones don’t feel as steady being larger. The g30p is almost to small the newer versions like the g2 and g3 r a wee bit larger but of course like 1k price tag oof. The g30p tho just fits for me at 6’ 2” 220lbs. Gonna cost a wee more for the g30p but that’s ok. Look at the G2 tho price may be similar rn idk haven’t looked in a bit.

Lots of used segway g30's and g2's on the market since the g3 shipped this week. My advice, save an extra 100 and pick up one of those, or come up with a good sob story and try to sweet talk one for 200 lol

My first scooter was max g30 for 400. I test drove it and inspected it prior to purchase, and it still works perfectly after moderate usage and zero maintenance. Buying new is great, but if we're trying to extract max value per dollar, the used market will win in this price range. That is, of course, assuming you possess the bare minimum skill set to prevent yourself from being ripped off.

Funny enough, there is an overheating flaw. I actually loved that scooter but turns out it will melt cables on hills.  I’m not saying don’t buy it, it was a great scooter and I loved it, but after a certain amount of time it just can’t handle hills for some reason.  (I had 2 and both had the same issue)

Bout 14 on Sport limited to 20mph Daily commute mostly flat with one steep climb at the end of the return trip. The hill totally stops my G30 but the G3 maintains speed all the way up and loses 3mph on the last few yards at the highest steepest part.

Ninebot Max G3 is IPX6 and it’s battery is IPX7 Not the highest but quite good. I also have the G30 and after a full year of daily use in all weather it has zero signs of moisture inside.

meh, speed isn't everything. I'd rather have something reliable that I know is going to work every time I turn it on, and it's affected by things like rain. That said, Segways are extremely reliable, g30p is about $600 now, G2Max has been available recently for $799 and it adds suspension and little higher top speed as well as blinkers. The f2pro might hit that $500ish price point too.

Depends on the overall budget though. College students don't necessarily want to sent or have the money to spend on a higher end scooter, esp when there are decent dependable scooters that may not go 50mph with a range of 90 miles. College students are going to have issues of storage and theft as primary concerns. So spending over $1k for something that could easily grt stolen makes zero sense. You're really better of getting something that is cheaper and reliable and speed doesn't have to be king nor does everyone want speed to be king. Add that it has zero to do with masculinity as you're trying to make it put to be. You're not a little girl if you don't want to go 50mph+, you just want a quicker commute and do it safely. Some people have balance issues and the faster you go the more dangerous it becomes. So something like those entry/mid level segways are amazing options because they aren't made for speed but dependability. And no, it doesn't have to be a tradeoff, but often times is.

at what point do you think I'm the OP? My experience and a lot of peoples that for the money, the Segways are some of the most dependable on the market and aren't built for speed. Some people are going to really like that aspect of it. Probably esp a college student on a budget.

Just looked at Amazon, the Segway g30p is $449. Its a tank of a scooter. Built to last, and rarely has issues. Its not a scooter thats built for speed but to get you from point A to point B.

If you're considering the F3, also consider the g3, at least it was a black friday sales for $999. But with that said, the g30p, while I think the most reliable of them, will travel in pretty much any weather, it does lack in power. Meaning, if I'm going up a hill, even an insanely small hill, it drops quickly to like 9mph. So also bear that in mind.

unsure on that front, but I'm about 230lb also and have had zero issues with it other than 1 flat tire in 2yrs. Real world range is around 15-20miles at pretty much max speeds

Got my max g30p used from r3new on eBay. A little over 300 with shipping. Got it in under a week. Came with a 1 year warranty. Used Klarna so I didn’t blow my budget for the month. My commute originally 4.5 miles is now down to 3.6 after experimenting with my route. I’ve put 90 miles on it in 30 days. Some of these miles are joy rides also. No issues so far.

Personally if just for street use and you’re not thinking of going over 30mphs. I would suggest Segway Max G30P. I have couple scooters and electric bikes and think Segway is amazing. Used it mostly in city. Very reliable , never had a problem with it. Tires are very reliable , had few nails go in from riding around lake shore dr, didn’t even need to fix the tires because it has self sealing future. Used it off road on grass , dirt. Even rain. Last about 30-40 miles. Easy to pack and carry(FITS IN ANY TRUNK). Owned it now for over 5 years , even bought exact same one for my SO so we could ride together because how much we liked it. Emergency wise it can also easily ride 2 people at same time. Also very smooth ride compared to other scooters. ONE OF THE SMOOTHEST. Never feel bumps But do your research , maybe price wise you can find something different to your liking. Good luck.
