Coway - Airmega 400

Hi, I've 4 coway air purifiers at home (2 bkh). 3 cats furry cats, fabric sofas and couple of large carpets. I'm extremely sensitive with dust and I can feel it in my nose and throat even if it's very little dusty. After getting these coway air purifiers I feel sooo much better. I've used Dysons, Mi, blueair. Out of all of them I love the coways. The one feature I miss is WiFi connectivity/app to adjust the fan speed or check air quality. Edit: spellings. Coway airmega it's excellent. I have mine going 24 hours a day and it senses everything. It also filters the tiniest particles.

When I turn the purifier off, the indoor reading goes back up to match the balcony level. So the purifier is clearly making a big difference.

I got a Coway Airmega because it was highly reviewed on the Wirecutter website after my previous Levoit broke after only a couple years and wasn’t fixable (circuit board inside was fried).

1) Recirculating air purifiers don't need to be medical grade. CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) matters more. Example: An EPA E12 air purifier vs a HEPA H13 (True HEPA / medical grade filter) air purifier having the same CADR -> The EPA E12 is better. True HEPA is way too air restrictive and CADR already takes the filter efficiency into the equation which is why CADR > filter efficiency alone as it also accounts for the airflow within the filter. It doesn't mean that True HEPA is bad. It's just gonna usually be more noisy than an E12 for the same performance. If you have 3 rooms then u need 3 air purifiers, one for each room. I need to know the room size in sqm/sqft and also if u have more than the normal 8ft/2.4-2.5m ceiling height. 3) You should buy a bigger air purifier than you need. The reason is since your family member has a health issue you 100% need the purifier to have AT LEAST the 4.8 ACH (Air Change per Hour), and since you might not want the air purifier to work at max speed all the time, you need to go at least 50% more if not double the power that you need. I generally recommend 50% more than what people need and let it run on low speed but in your case i recommend 2x more than what you need and run it on at least medium speed. 4) Good products that I recommend are either Philips PureProtect Series (3200 / pro 4200) or Coway Airmega 300/300s/400/400s. 5) Not related to air purifiers but look into fasting. Prolonged water fasting for at least 3 days, than refeeding with carnivore diet. Also the stem cell protection that a 3 days fast gives you on doing chemotherapy. If you switch off a carb rich diet and go carnivore diet you won't have any more external carbs (you ll feel like crap because of low glycogen stores but so will the cancer) so it will slow down the cancer's growth, since the cancer's main food source is your energy source which are the carbs. Moreover autophagy is your body natural system of getting rid of bad cells. It's a hunt for them. In a normal setting your body is just fighting bad cells. In autophagy mode your body hunts the bad cells to eat them as food. Guess what cancer is and what your body will do with it. There are plenty of cancer cases where autophagy helped. Do your research on it. Also your family member needs to have some fat/muscles to be able to do this and the refeeding needs to be aggressive to put back the lost fat and muscle during a fasting period. Salt is also required in the water but you'll learn about all of this if you do proper research. Not a medical advice since I don't know the specifics of your case but please look into it.

We have two Coway Airmega units, one on either side of the house. They have been on 24/7 for several years now. Maintenance and cleaning are very minimal. Cost is about $150-200, although there are larger units based on how big of an area you need to filter. We are very happy with them! Whichever purifier you choose, I highly recommend you look into one with a replaceable HEPA filter. Other filtration methods just won’t give the same results.

Agreed! And they now offer different filters depending on what is most important to you to filter: one for smoke, one for allergens, etc.

Yup, we splurged on a couple coway airmega 400 purifiers when we were living in Seattle and are glad we brought them with us to Minneapolis since we bought an older craftsman home without a duct AC system (which typically allow air filters). This past week would have been really rough for my asthma without air purifiers running!
