Instant Pot - Duo Crisp + Air Fryer (Dual Lid System)

I have the 8qt IP with two lids, and really like it. I use it either for pressure or air frying almost daily. I almost never turn on my regular oven any more because the AF acts as a small convection oven that is big enough for almost anything I would bake/roast/grill for two people. The one with the combined lid wasn’t released yet when I bought so that wasn’t an option, and I’ve seen some reports of that lid getting “stuck” in pressure mode since it works differently than the simple pressure lid. I like that that my pressure lid is dishwasher safe, although it’s super easy to clean too.

Instant Pot has a stainless steel inner which works great. Get the 8L Duo Crisp one as it has pressure cooker and airfryer functionality

My instant pot duo crisp is the best appliance I’ve bought in the last 6 years. I have the 8qt size. Not only does it air fry, it is also a pressure cooker.

I have an Instant Pot Duo Crisp, which is technically both (and then some), but not the best rice cooker OR the best air fryer either - as in, does the job but could be better. But i like the pressure cooker part - quickest way to make beans, stews, soup (i often make bone broth, it's done in 4 hrs instead of 12), etc. However, there are apparently problems with the brand, so it's not a recommendation. But if you're interested in checking it out, Ninja has the Foodi multicookers, it's similar.

I was going to get a Ninja, but realized at the last moment that the open lid wouldn’t fit on our counter top, so I went with the Duo Crisp instead. I don’t Air Fry much, but when I do I often end up using some of the custom inserts (racks, silicone trays) that you can buy anywhere these days - whatever seems to work best for what I’m making.

I dont know this specific brand but oven airfryers are alright. If you need it because of space it’s fine. The main issue with specifically airfrying is that theres a TON of extra air space then a normal airfryer. So it takes longer and doesnt cook as evenly. I love my instant pot duo air fryer, I would suggest that instead. They make an oven type airfyer though. But i have one of these types at work and it’s pretty nice for reheating food.

May I ask a question as you seem knowledgable. What is your view of my airfryer, the Instapot Duo Crisp (it is also a pressure cooker amoung other things) ? I don't know whether I simply need to get more use to it or it is not great. Thank you.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Yes there is airflow, the biggest downside imo is that removal of the partition between to food (the partition is so you have 2 baskets) is messy, it's not a simple thing. It also burns food whenever I have used it as a pressure cooker (no matter how much liquid in the food). Maybe I am just unskilled, idk, but it seems there are better options for airfryers now, and Crimbo is coming so...

Instant pot + airfry combo. Been solid. Two+ different types of cooking. One device.
